Controlled Parking at Epsom Sports Club’s Woodcote Road Site

July 2024

Dear ESC Member

Illegal parking in the carparks at Woodcote Road has reached unacceptable levels and members often struggle to find spaces. We have left flyers on windscreens, had working parties stationed at the entrance and have had parking penalty notices erected, but to no avail.

To address the problem, the Club Director/Trustees have signed an agreement with “Parkingeye” to introduce a numberplate recognition system to control use of the car parks. All members will be entitled to free parking when they visit the site to participate in Club activities, but illegal parkers will receive a penalty charge notice.

How will the system work?

Numberplate recognition

Parking eye will erect a camera covering the entrance to the club grounds. Signage will be on display in both Woodcote Road car parks. There will be a 15-minute concessionary period before a Penalty Charge Notice (‘PCN’) is issued. This will allow deliveries, drop-offs and pick-ups without charge.

Membership Permit List

Playing sections will be contacting their members to obtain car registration numbers and descriptions which will be recorded on the system’s list as authorised to park. Going forward members must take responsibility for updating the Club for any registration changes. If members arrive in a vehicle not on the permitted list, they must behave as visitors (see below) to avoid a PCN.

Visitors to the Club

Both Pavilions will have a tablet where visiting teams, spectators and other users of our facilities may enter their registrations to avoid penalties. This may be done at any time during a visit but must be done before leaving the ground.

When will the system go live?

The Parkingeye surveyors have visited the Woodcote site and are planning installation of the camera and signage. A go-live-date has not yet been set. Members will be notified as soon as it is fixed.
